Kids Summer Festival 2010
Its that time of year again where the kids break up from school.
We are running Kids sessions throughout the summer holidays Monday to Friday 11-1pm as well as the usual evening sessions.
These sessions cost ?9 per person which includes all equipment hire and a healthy snack.
Last year our kids summer sessions proved very popular so please make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.

New wall in Big Roof is set and ready to climb
We have been busy doing more building work.
This time we have changed the angle in the left of the big roof.
From the picture you can see the new angles as Nic demonstrates a red.
This wall and the whole roof has been reset with around 14 route style problems.

New Circuit Board problems
Our circuit board has been proving very popular since being opened. Due to this we have added two new circuits on the board which are graded: Blue 7c and pink 8a+.
The circuit board is a 30 degree overhanging wall (ie moderately overhanging) and is used for long circuit type problems ie up to 40 moves.
This wall really works your forearms and gives you a real Yorkshire limestone workout.
There are problems starting at sport 6b going to 8c mega linkups!
It's an excellent addition to the Depot and adds a real extra dimension to the wall.

The Depot Beastmaker blog
Dan Knight has taken on the job of keeping the beastmaker board fully up to date. Over the last month Dan has made a number of changes to the board, which has opened it up to more users without reducing its hardcore appeal.?Dan will be providing beta videos and topos for loads of problems on arguably the UK's best commercial training board. Students at The Depot
The Depot Climbing Centre is the UK’s premier bouldering centre. We are ideally situated for access from both Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan University. From Headingley the 91a bus comes past the door of the wall and runs on a regular basis from outside Headingley Library. From town the 16, 72 and 40 amongst others go past the wall on a very regular basis.
For students we have a number of special offers. We are offering £4 climbing every Monday and Friday evening at The Depot. We are also offering a reduced rate month pass at £34 for a month of unlimited climbing.

Physiotherapy at The Depot
Every Tuesday 7-8pm our resident, chartered Physiotherapist Rory Holliday is on hand to offer advice on climbing injuries. No need to make an appointment, just pop along to our drop-in session and get some advice from Rory.

Coaching at The Depot
Here at The Depot we want to help you get the most out of your climbing and to improve.
We run open coaching sessions which are for anyone of any ability to come along to for advice and help from our experienced coaches.
The sessions are as follows:
Mixed sessions every Thursday 7-9pm and Sundays 12-1.30pm
Ladies only sessions with Ako every Thursday 7-8.30pm
These sessions are free once normal entry has been paid. The sessions are very popular so please register your interest in a session by sending and email to: dan.crossdale@googlemail.com
One to one sessions can be booked for pretty much anytime with prices starting from ?20.

The Bouldering Ladder Round 1
The first round of the summer bouldering ladder has proved really popular. We set out to provide a tough set of varied problems and although nobody managed to tick them all we still got some big scores from some mighty performances.

The problems for round 2 have now been set and once again we reckon it will take some effort to get them all ticked. The problems range from v0 – v11 and you get a full month to try and complete as many as possible. You can drop a month’s score so everyone still has a chance to win in each category. Prizes range from free passes to some rather bling bouldering gear and everyone gets a chance to win. We will be picking out random scorecards at the final comp with the holders getting anything from a lapis brushes to a crash pad! The more rounds you enter the better chance you have of winning.

Summer Bouldering Ladder
Summer is here! but thats no excuse for getting out of shape. This summer we are running a bouldering ladder with 30 'comp style' problems getting set each month until September. You have a month to try and complete all the problems in as many attempts and visits as you wish. Points from each months set will be added up and accumulated with points gained in our Super Final in September. Problems will be set for all abilities from V0-V12 and we will have some great prizes on offer. The ladder kicks off on the 5th of May (after 5pm). Everyone can take part from kids through to comp superstars!

Final Leg of Boulder Leeds and 1st Year Party!!!!
The final leg of the "Boulder Leeds" league was @ The Depot on the 26th of March combined with our 1st Birthday Party. It was a fantastic night with music provided by DJ Dangerous Dave! Some really strong performances from some of best climbers in the area (Gareth in the photo did all 25 problems!!!).

Kids go free at The Depot!
The Depot has proved very popular with climbers wanting to let their young ones loose on our fantastic kids wall. To help cut the cost of a family visit we now run two sessions per week when paying members can bring under 7’s for free! The sessions are run from 10-12 every Saturday and Sunday with more dates to be announced for the upcoming holiday period.

Free coaching at The Depot
The Depot provides guest coaches every Thursday evening from 7-9.30pm. Kevin Avery is on hand every Thursday evening to offer his considerable experience to those who are either new to the sport or those wanting to really push themselves. Kev has climbed at a high standard in every discipline – from V11 boulder problems, 8b sport routes through to hard winter climbs in Scotland and the Alps. You can’t miss him, just look for the funny looking bloke in the ‘Coach’ t-shirt.
We also provide more focussed one-to-one coaching for those who require a more structured approach. Contact The Depot for more information.

New Kids Clubs due to popular demand
Single and Double Deckers
Due to the increasing popularity of our kids clubs sessions we are now running additional sessions throughout the week. The times are as follows:
Monday 6-7pm and 7.30-8.30pm
Tuesday 6-7pm
Wednesday 6-7pm
Thursday 6-7pm
Friday 6-7pm and 7.30-8.30pm
The cost of these sessions is £6 per person including boot hire. Booking is essential.
We also run a kids coaching session on a Saturday 6-8pm. The session costs £8. The session has limited so booking is recommended.
All new kids need to complete an iduction to ensure they are up to speed with the other kids. This is a one of session and costs £15 per person.

About our facilities
Welcome to The Depot climbing centre
The Depot aims to provide a new standard for an indoor bouldering centre. Situated on Richardshaw Lane, Stanningley - The Depot is just 200m from Stanningley by-pass, within easy striking distance from both Leeds and Bradford, the centre is easily reached via both private and public transport. The Depot combines exceptional climbing in a quality, freindly environment. Hundreds of problems make up circuits for all abilities - over 200 problems have been set so far. Weekly re-set's of up to 40 climbs ensures that everyone always has new stuff to go at. From huge roofs and barrels to technical slabs and aretes every style of climbing is catered for. The dedicated kids area with slide and cave is ideal for introducing younger climbers to the sport.
The Depot also has a huge route style cave, allowing climbers to work on their fitness without the need for a rope and belayer. The 'Beastmaker' training area includes - fingerboards, huge symmetrical 'Beastmaker' board and a massive campus board with three different rung sizes. More features are added to this area frequently.
The Cafe
The Cafe serves quality hot drinks from our espresso machine along with a wide range of other refreshments.
The Depot Shop
We stock all the essentials such as guides, chalk, tape and training goodies. The full shop is coming soon.
